Ever since starting Everybody has a brain with Mark and Daniela, we wanted to make a physical version of the blog. We felt that while the community we formed through the site was online, that the same people could appreciate something to hold in their hands. Something that was small enough to carry around, but big enough to feel like it was something worth having.
We wanted to give readers a sense of what was inside the book without giving spoilers, so we felt using iconography would work well. Daniela and I took a simple and friendly approach to designing these icons to go with the Everybody has a brain brand. I designed the top 3 - on family, exercise, and meditation. Daniela designed the bottom 3 - on conversation, pets, and food.
There's a pretty diverse amount of content in the book. We have interviews, long-form pieces, recipes, and tips—all focused on mental health. Some of the illustrations and stories were originally created for Everybody has a brain. But most of the book features custom illustrations and photos made for it.
