There are few places that I’ve been to that gives me a strong feeling of respect for simply being there. These places usually have a distinct history in the architecture that almost glows with something almost spiritual. To me, there’s significance in knowing that in these places, you’ve stood in the same place as people thousands of years ago stood. And that these people, like you, came from different backgrounds and different lives that brought them to a place this special.
From the pagodas and unmarked streets in the city, to the bamboo forest of Arashiyama, and our hike through the Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine–these were the thoughts and feelings constantly running through my head. For Daniela and I, these spots were some truly special parts of our trip to Japan.
